JEE Advanced 2025 Updated Criteria: Number of Attempts Increased

Great news for every JEE applicant. For both Indian and foreign nationals, the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur has posted the JEE Advanced 2025 Eligibility Criteria on its official website, jeeadv.ac.in. The JEE Advanced attempt limit has undergone a significant modification. The new rules allow applicants to take the JEE Advanced exam no more than three times in three years.

JEE Advanced 2025 Updated Requirements for Eligibility:

  • Maximum Age: To be eligible to take the JEE Advanced 2025 exam, a candidate must have been born on or after October 1, 2000. Candidates must have been born on or after October 1, 1995, in order to qualify for the SC, ST, and PwD categories, which have been loosened for five years.
  • Count of Attempts:A candidate can attempt JEE Advanced a maximum of three times in three consecutive years
  • The JEE Advanced 2025 exam will not be available to students who have previously been accepted into an IIT through the JoSSA counselling process. Students who have gained admission to an NIT after qualifying for the JEE Main, however, will be

    • Educational Criteria:Candidates must have taken the Class XII (or equivalent) test for the first time in 2023, 2024, or 2025, with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as required subjects, in order to be eligible for JEE Advanced.
    • The JEE Advanced 2025 exam is not open to candidates who took their Class XII (or equivalent) exams in 2022 or earlier.
    • Criteria for PercentageThe following represents the percentage distribution of candidates shortlisted in each category:

      • Up to 10% of candidates are GEN-EWS.
      • Up to 27% of candidates are OBC-NCL.
      • SC applicants account for 15% of the total.
      • ST applicants earn 7.5%.
      • The remaining 40.5% is available to everyone.
      • PwD candidates are given a 5% horizontal reservation across the five categories.
