IIT also known as the Indian Institute of Technology is a government institute owned by the Ministry of Education under the Government of India. These IITs are governed under the Institutes of Technology Act, of 1961. Currently, there are a total of 23 IITs in India. The admission for IITs is carried out through entrance exams namely Joint Entrance Exams or JEE.

According to the NIRF rankings 2024, IIT Madras emerged as India’s No. 1 Indian Institute of Technology followed by IIT Delhi and IIT Bombay. One of the key reasons why IITs are so popular is the impressive placement record and high salary packages offered to their graduates. Top-notch companies from around the world flock to IIT campuses to recruit talented individuals, offering lucrative job opportunities and a promising career trajectory. If you are aiming for the top IIT, you need a rank higher than 500. For the newer IITs, a rank higher than 4500 will do. To even be considered for IITs, candidates must score at least 250 or higher and land between the 85-95 percentile in JEE Main.
As per the official information released by HRD Ministry, the fees-structure of the current year will also be applicable for the 2025 . There will be no hike in the course fee at IIT colleges. IIT fees per year are around 2.5 lakh. Some IIT Fee structure is given below.
IIT Madras is in the first position in NIRF ranking. There is more than 121 courses such as B.tech, M.tech , etc. The courses include undergraduate, postgraduate as well as online courses which are ranked among the top courses. IIT Madras has 16 departments, 14 research centres, and a Continuing Education Programs Centre (CEP). Admission to IIT Madras is based on an entrance exam namely JEE Mains. Candidates must have a valid score.
